Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar

Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar is a globally renowned Shariah Advisor, a founder of a few start-up companies and a prolific author. He was the former Chairman of the Shariah Board at Bank negara Malaysia and Securities Commission of Malaysia. Currently, he is the Chairman of Shariah Committee at First Abu Dhabi Bank (UAE), Madina Insurance (Oman) and Salama Insurance (UAE).

He also sits as a Member of Shariah Committee of a few Islamic Financial Institutions in Asia, Middle East and Europe. In the Corporate world, he is the Chairman of Bio-Angle Vacs Sdn. Bhd. (vaccine for ruminants), BerryPay Sdn. Bhd. (digital remittance), Amanie Advisors Sdn. Bhd., Laughing Tree Sdn. Bhd., Data Sukan (Sport Data) Sdn. Bhd., and other few new enterprises in many dimensions of business.

He has authored 42 books, in many genres of the literature. Amongst his magnum opus books are “Shariah Minds in Islamic Finance: An Inside Story of A Shariah Scholar” (2016) and “Maqasid al-Shariah : The Face and Voice of Shariah” (2021).

Throughout his career, he has been awarded with many awards in Malaysia and overseas. Recently, he was awarded with “Royal Award for Islamic Finance 2022” by His Majesty The King of Malaysia.
