Kuala Lumpur, 4 Jan 2024 – INCEIF University is pleased to announce the appointment of Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus as Professor of Practice with immediate effect.

The former Bank Negara Malaysia Governor is currently the Chancellor of INCEIF University, which was established by BNM as a dedicated institution for higher education, applicable research and executive training in Islamic finance.

Tan Sri Nor Shamsiah brings invaluable knowledge from her distinguished career in Malaysia and supporting international organisations. Her in-depth experience in guiding the growth and governance of the financial industry would add much-needed perspectives to our looks forward to tap into her remarkable track record in the banking and finance sector. She brings an in-depth experience in guiding the growth and governance of the financial industry during her tenure as the Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (July 2018 – June 2023), especially during a tumultuous and critical period for the nation. She was involved in the financial sector resolution initiatives during the Asian financial crisis. She played a key role in the formulation and implementation of the Financial Sector Masterplan (2001-2010) and Financial Sector Blueprint (2011-2020) that charts the development of the Malaysian financial system.

In total, INCEIF boasts of five PoP who are uniquely qualified professional practitioners, distinguished and eminent professionals, either practicing or retired. Armed with their practical professional experiences, the PoP engage with students and faculty members, contributing to the research and scholarly mission of INCEIF. They promote the integration of academic scholarship with practical experience.

The other PoP are Bursa Malaysia Bhd Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd Dato’ Mohammed Hussein, CIMB Group Holdings Berhad Chairman Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad and former banker Mdm Suri Hanim Mohamed.

INCEIF faculty members, who are globally respected among the Islamic finance and sustainability sphere, have a combined wealth of experience and diversity with areas of expertise in – among others – Shariah, sustainability and fintech. The faculty, coupled with continuous support from the industry and policy makers, provides INCEIF students with strong mentoring relationships and opportunities for professional development.
