Inceif Welcomes Additional Notable Individuals As Adjunct Professors


 

Kuala Lumpur, 13 Oct 2023 – INCEIF University is pleased to welcome notable industry players to its growing roster of Adjunct Professors.

They are:

  • Mr Rafe Haneef, Group Chief Executive Officer, MBSB Holding
  • Dr Muhammad Husin, Former Country Treasurer, Treasury Division of Deutsche Bank Malaysia Berhad
  • Dr Azrie Tamjis, Senior Advisor, Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit

Mr Rafe Haneef is the Group CEO of MBSB Holding that comprises MBSB Bank and MIDF group. He was previously the CEO of Group Transaction Banking at CIMB from 2019 to June 2023. He began his banking career in 1999 with HSBC Investment Bank in London. Over the past 25 years, he has held various leadership roles at HSBC Middle East, ABN Amro UAE, Fajr Capital UAE and CitiGroup Malaysia. He was then appointed as the CEO of HSBC Amanah Bank and subsequently joined CIMB as the CEO of CIMB Islamic Bank. He also served as CIMB’s Group Chief Sustainability Officer and the CEO of CIMB Foundation, where he was instrumental in positioning the sustainability agenda as a key strategic driver for CIMB Group.

Rafe read law and Islamic law at the International Islamic University Malaysia and then pursued his Master of Laws at Harvard Law School.

Dr Muhammad Md Husin is the former Country Treasurer for Deutsche Bank Malaysia Berhad and responsible for the funding and liquidity management of the bank. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank Malaysia, he was at Treasury divisions of Central Bank of UAE and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). In both institutions, he was involved in the open-market operations, management of banking systems’ excess liquidity and spearheading the financial market developments. Dr Muhammad sits on the board of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF) as Grand Councillor and Secretary to the CIIF EXCO.

Dr Muhammad holds an MBA and PhD from Imperial College Business School and the International Islamic University of Malaysia respectively. He also holds membership in the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA) and Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He is a Chartered Banker from the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers and attended executive education programne at University of Cambridge Judge Business School.

Dr Azrie Tamjis has made significant contributions to the financial landscape, particularly during his extensive service at BNM. Over the course of nearly 20 years, he has dedicated his skills and knowledge to the banking supervision sector. He is currently seconded by BNM to Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit.

Dr Azrie has a PhD in Banking and Risk from Loughborough University, UK. His professional certifications include the Certified ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Banker, Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and Chartered Global Management Accountant.

INCEIF faculty members, who are globally respected among the Islamic finance and sustainability sphere, have a combined wealth of experience and diversity with areas of expertise in – among others – Shariah, sustainability and fintech. The faculty, coupled with continuous support from the industry and policy makers, provides INCEIF students with strong mentoring relationships and opportunities for professional development. Collectively, they contribute valuable insights from a practitioner’s perspective to the academic community.
